Furniture Plus is the largest furniture re-use, recycling and repair organisation in Fife.

We have continued to grow steadily since our inception in December 2001. Our main aim is to combat poverty and social exclusion, especially homelessness. We do this through our core business activity of re-using, recycling and repairing furniture and other household goods which may have otherwise gone to landfill. This benefits local communities, both socially and environmentally, whilst generating core income to sustain the project. We work throughout Fife, operating from two locations in Dysart and Dunfermline.

Furniture Plus is a completely self-sustaining charity which does not receive core grant funding to provide the services that we offer which is why donated items are sold in our shops. All surpluses generated are re-invested into the Charity, with a significant amount set aside each year to provide furniture and other household items free of charge to people in most need.

Over the last quarter we have managed to…

• divert 238 tonnes from landfill by passing on and otherwise reusing furniture and other household goods.
• help 1700 local families with free or reduced price furniture and household goods.
• support 12 volunteers in gaining workplace skills and confidence.

Our Partnerships

Just as we wouldn’t be where we are today without our donors and volunteers, partner organisations have also helped us flourish over the years. To help us achieve our charitable aims, we have over the years, partnered with organisations both local and national. Partnerships enable us to reach far and wide to support our main aims of battling poverty and social exclusion as well as benefitting our environment and wider community through recycling, reusing and diverting household items and furniture from landfill.

Below are some examples of our closest partnerships.

Self Sustained Charity

Furniture Plus is a completely self-sustaining charity which does not receive core grant funding to provide the services that we offer which is why donated items are sold in our two store locations as well as in our online store. The funds we raise from these sales all contribute directly to us continuing to run our services for our local community.

Revolve Certified

Furniture Plus is also Revolve certified. Revolve is Scotland’s re-use quality standard. This means that when you buy from us, you can be sure of quality.

Our Revolve badge means you can be sure that we safety test our products, offer great products, good value and excellent customer service and carry our regular training and quality audits across all of our operations. Giving you peace of mind, that you’re in good hands.

Our Stores:

Dysart

First opened back in 2001, then later expanded in 2013 our operation has grown to fill the large warehouse located in a quiet street just off the main route through Dysart. Home to our head office and main showroom, our Dysart site is where the bulk of our operations are handled.

Dunfermline

Located just across from Pitreavie golf course our Dunfermline showroom sees a great variety of furniture and household goods day in day out and despite its size is quite the hive of activity handling donations and sales across western Fife.

• Book your free collection via our website or by giving us a call direct.

• Your donated goods will be prepped for sale and priced. Once you item either sells or is gifted to someone in need in our community we’ll claim Gift Aid to boost the value of your donation.*

• The funds raised then go right back into the charity to help us sustain the project and reach even more families in need in our community.

*We will only claim Gift Aid where the donor has agreed for us to do so and has confirmed they are a current UK taxpayer. Find out more about Gift Aid and how it can boost your donation here.

House Clearances

Our clearance service is as comprehensive as you need it to be; we can clear away furniture, curtains, flooring, white goods, odds and ends and rubbish. We can also clear out sheds, garages and any other out-buildings as part of a full clearance service.

We appreciate that often clearing a house can be an emotional time no matter the reason. We always aim to make the job as simple and as hassle free for you as we can. Our team are friendly, professional and understand that often they are dealing with possessions that may stir strong emotional memories with our customers.

Donate now to help people in need

At Furniture Plus we rely heavily on the kind donations of furniture, white goods, bric-a-brac and other general household goods that we receive from our fantastic donors. If you have a desk you don’t do anything with or a sofa you soon need to see shot of, why not consider donating it to us? It’s the best way to contribute to our project and you’ll not only be gaining space back in your home, you’ll also be helping fund a local community project which strives to drive down poverty and up-skill those furthest removed from the job market in your local area.

Help us today by donating

No matter how small your donation may be, every little item helps a small family to furnish their family home who possibly can’t afford new, or maybe just loves a bargain or two.
We collect from all over Fife five days a week for free and we can collect from any room in your house, saving you the hassle of moving your items out to the kerb.
