Mooplehog opened in September 2018 with just a kettle, toaster, panini press and slow cooker. Within six months the cafe has grown to now open Saturday evenings and host regular community events, external catering and win the coveted Federation of Small Businesses start-up business of the year 2019 for the South West and come in the top twelve nationally.
A quirky interior and food from small artisan producers, home cooking and veg from ground to plate often within 24 hours ensures that Mooplehog is never dull. The menu changes daily and prices are kept realistic to be affordable for all.
Flavours are from places the owner has visited both in person and by armchair. Having been told that opening in a huge dairy farming area close to Devon’s largest cattle auction was commercial suicide; Mooplehog is happily proving people wrong and has become a community hub for recipe swaps, education and of course cake. Plenty of cake.
25p from drinks is donated to North Dartmoor Search and Rescue and 50p from mains goes to the Change the Lives project.
