KINDA ODD, TOTALLY DELICIOUS

Oddbox began as a seedling in a market in Portugal. Our founders, Emilie and Deepak, were browsing the fresh, beautiful, sometimes funny-looking fruit & veg on offer. It struck them that they only ever saw identical, aesthetically pleasing produce in UK supermarkets. Why was that?

They did some digging and learned that up to 40% of all produce in the UK is wasted before it leaves farms. Why? Because it doesn’t look “right” or because too much was grown – despite being fresh, beautiful, and totally tasty.

Something needed to change. They knew if they could bring together hardworking producers and people who loved fresh fruit & veg — no matter what it looked like — they could build something with long-lasting impact.

And so, Oddbox was born.

From humble beginnings with a handful of customers, we now work directly with farmers to deliver thousands of boxes of fantastic fruit & veg every week, with the community growing bigger and stronger every day.

A THIRD OF THE FOOD GROWN IN THE WORLD IS WASTED

We believe this has to stop. All food grown should be eaten.

Right now, this isn’t the case. In the UK alone, over 3 million tonnes of fruit & veg are wasted before they even leave the farm.

“Too” big, “too” dinky, “too” many. And when food goes to waste, so does all the energy, water and time that went into growing it.

WHY IS FOOD WASTED AT THE FARM?

Fruits and veg comes in all sorts of shape and sizes. Fact.

Our food system in the UK has grown to prize uniformity over taste and planet. This means fruit & veg that’s fresh and perfectly delicious but doesn’t look quite right by supermarket standards is left behind.

What’s more, we live in a world where on-demand everything is the norm. This means farmers are left with surplus veg no matter how you slice it. If we want blackberries in January and Brussels sprouts in June, we can walk into almost any supermarket and pick them off the shelf. However, this isn’t how nature works.

This is where we come in. Every week we speak to farmers who’ve got an abundance of perfectly tasty produce on their hands, and deliver it directly to you.

WHAT DIFFERENCE HAVE WE MADE TO DATE?

That’s how much water 34,300 people would drink in their lifetime.

CARBON EMISSIONS
20,830 tonnes prevented
That’s enough energy to power 4,762 houses for a year.

Watch your positive environmental impact climb each week you rescue a box.

BUSINESS AS A FORCE FOR GOOD

Doing the right thing is at the core of everything we do — especially when it comes to the way we run our business.

We believe it’s our responsibility to help even more people fight food waste, and do it in a sustainable way. That’s why we’re a proud, certified B Corporation (a.k.a B Corp).

This means we’re assessed (and held accountable) to a strict set of independent principles, which focus on balancing profit and purpose.

FIGHTING FOOD POVERTY

At the end of every week, we donate our leftover produce to the food produce charities The Felix Project & City Harvest.

SUSTAINABLY PACKED

We pack our fruit & veg in recyclable boxes and never add unnecessary packaging in.

On your next delivery day, we collect your old box to be recycled, giving it a new life.
